How to Get Rid of German Cockroaches at Home Naturally

Nobody likes to have their house inhibited by cockroaches. The animal has a lot of family but one that is most commonly found at houses is German cockroaches. When you found some of them around, the first think you would like to know is probably how to get rid of German cockroaches. It is obvious since the bug is not only disgusting but also harmful.

How to Get Rid of German Cockroaches in Safe Way

The German cockroaches live in nasty places where there are stingy, greasy, and dirty dark areas. If you have such place in any part of your house, it is not surprising that you pass by them a couple of times. You can simply spray the house or the suspecting habitat of the roach in your house with chemical bug repellant. But when you have children or pets, this will be dangerous for them too, unless you know how to get rid of German cockroaches by using natural ingredients.

  1. Coffee in a bottle or jar. Coffee has a strong smell that is able to attract the German cockroaches. Its ability to kill the insect is still debatable, but you can certainly use it as a trap and clean the house off of them. This can be done by pouring coffee in a bottle or jar to attract them in. They will get difficulty to get out of the container then you can do your part by throwing them away or kill them. One thing to remember is to use a jar with smaller hole to make sure the roaches lost their way out.
  2. Kaffir Lime and peppermint essential oil. Essential oils are effective not only to spread lovely fragrance but also to other purposes. The oil of Kaffir Lime and peppermint are believed to be able to get the disgusting animal away. You can make spraying liquid with kefir essential oil or peppermint essential oil and apply it to the spots where you tend to see the roaches. When they pass by the area sprayed, the liquid will stick on their body and irritate their respiratory system.
  3. Baking Soda or borax trap. This trap is made by mixing baking soda and a few drops of water. Baking soda is replaceable by borax and also boric acid powder. The three powders are strongly harmful when the roaches drink them. It is technically deadly poison for them. You can put the mixture in a small cup or bottle lid and place it near the places often visited by the roaches. Adding sugar cubes can attract them even more and make the trap more effective.

As the existence of the animal is worrisome for it can bring bacteria and put it in any path they walk on to, including your food. This is more than enough reason to find the best way of how to get rid of German cockroaches. Once you successfully kill some or even a lot, it perhaps means that you win the battle. The next step is of course keep your house clean and close holes that enable them to come back.
